I’m so delighted to share a glimpse into a deeply meaningful piece I’m creating — a one‑of‑a‑kind ring I’ve named the “Grote Steen” ring.
Grote Steen, Dutch for “large stone” or “statement ring,” feels like the perfect name. This beautiful stone was gifted to me by a dear friend, and it once belonged to her father — an incredibly talented jeweller born in Leiden, Holland. He crafted jewellery with passion and dedication before beginning a new chapter in Australia in the 1950s.
As I work on this piece, I feel connected not only to the artistry he embodied, but also to the love and history this stone carries. This ring is my way of honouring his legacy — and celebrating the friendship that brought it into my hands.
